Air conditioning
Have you ever thought ‘why does air-conditioning always blast in jets?’ Some parts of your body have frostbite while others are still sweating. Well we've designed the cee'd air conditioning that gently distributes the air around the car for optimal ventilation keeping you cool and comfortable. We've even designed it so you can cool the glove-box to create a chilled storage area. Its details like these that make all the difference.
Rear light fins
When it comes to aesthetics, it's the little details that complete the design package. Like our rear lights with their unique ‘cyclone’ design. The brilliant thing is, it's not just about looks – it's also an ingenious way to keep them clean and bright for others to see. The small fins direct airflow and dirt away from the light cluster. It's a tiny thing – but like everything else it was hugely important to us.
Audio system
Music can enhance driving pleasure that is why we took great care to build the cee'd audio system. Nothing was good enough so we designed it ourselves using the best speakers from Blaupunkt and not just 4 but 6 of them. Not only this but iPod connection gives you access to your music to take advantage of the great sound quality – and you can control all of this with your finger tips on the steering wheel.
Double spray washers
When you clean your home windows, you wouldn't use a water pistol – so why do car sprays always squirt a tiny jet? We thought it would be more practical to have a wider nozzle spray that covers the whole area your wipers need to clean. And we didn't stop there. Our advanced washer nozzles are mounted on the bonnet with an air deflector. It makes sure the water is always spread accurately over the windscreen – no matter how fast or slow you're going.
Extensively tested
When it came to putting the cee'd through its paces, we couldn't think of any terrain more challenging than European roads. Faced with enough uneven surfaces and potholes to unsettle even the sturdiest of cars, the cee'd proved reassuringly resilient. It might look sleek and sophisticated, but it's also surprisingly strong – our designers call it ‘tough not rough’. In fact we're so confident in the quality of the cee'd, that it has a seven year/100,000 mile warranty.
Paint rotation and dipping
We went to great lengths to make the cee'd a nice car to be seen in – and we certainly wanted to keep it that way. So instead of spraying it, we dip the entire thing in paint. And then rotate it, slowly. Not once. Not twice… Nine times. So that every single millimetre is evenly coated. It's a technique used on the world's best cars.
Environmental impact
In developing the cee'd we looked at more than the engine to minimise its impact on the environment – we obsessed over the entire life of the car. In fact before we even built it, we built an environmental research centre to decide HOW to build it – we're among the first automotive manufactures to have such an institute. The result is a car, constructed in a more energy-efficient way, with materials that are easier to recycle.

Neuro fuzzy technology
Something with a name like ‘neuro fuzzy technology’ had to have a place in the cee'd. We've been working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for years to make our cars smarter and easier to use. But the cee'd is one of the first to have an AI gearbox – which actually learns how you drive to make your gear changes smoother and more efficient. It's not just better for you, it saves petrol and lowers CO2 emissions as well.

Temperature control
The cee'd is about devotion to astonishing little details. Like a simple little temperature controller – we just couldn't make it simple. Cleverly, the inside button turns the air conditioning on while the outside dial adjusts it. But the best bit is, as you turn up the heat the light illuminates round the dial.
Aerodynamic Wipers
We're prepared to admit we may have obsessed too much here. Like designing blades with an innovative profile that lets air push them onto the screen – so you get a good wipe even at higher speeds. A heated strip at the bottom of the windscreen also melts ice so the wipers never stick. And then there are the nozzles, which spray all over the window rather than shooting a couple of jets. It may be over the top, but we guarantee you'll have a sparkling window.

Innovative tailgate
If we told you that on the SW we moved the top hinges precisely 225mm further forward, you'd probably say ‘Who cares?’ But if it was raining, you were holding a heavy bag and you'd parked your cee'd close to a wall, you'd discover that it has the most accessible load area in its class – because the boot opens more upwards than outwards.

Independant rear suspension
Designing a car's suspension set-up is always a crucial part of the journey – especially with an estate that could be carrying heavy loads. So we deliberated for a long time before deciding on set-up… What you get is fully independent rear suspension that gives you incredibly responsive handling as well as a supple, comfortable ride. With separate shock absorbers and coil springs at the rear, you'll enjoy maximum tyre grip, even tyre wear, reduced road noise and…well, just an all-round great drive.
1,664 litre capacity storage
More space doesn't have to mean less style. When you fold down the cee'd SW's rear seats, there's an incredible 1,664 litres of cargo space.
